All Things Polar Drink: spirits and more to warm body and soul

As wonderful as a good whiskey or flavored ale is, we know that alcohol played a large part in polar explorations, not always for the better.
  • Ireland-Tom Crean Premium Irish Lager-Dingle Brewing Company-unfortunately this is now closed. Hopefully, it may reopen some day so that the tap can run again.

  • Scotland-Scotch Whiskey Discovery-MacKinlay whiskey, discovered in 2010 under floorboards in Shackleton’s Cape Royd’s hut has now been replicated by Whtye and Mackay’s distillery, Invergordon. The whiskey, of which there were five crates from Shackleton’s 1909 Nimrod Expedition, has been analyzed and reproduced by Whyte and Mackay. You can buy it here: Mackinlay's Shackleton Blended Scotch Whiskey. Enjoy! Of note, two crates of brandy were also discovered. A bonus!

  • United States-Arctic Summer Hard Seltzer-Polar seltzer is a well recognized U.S. brand, located in Worcester MA. Now you can enjoy this new hard seltzer product. No doubt, it will cool you down. Polar has teamed up with brewery Harpoon, based out of Boston.
